Half a year

Half a year, six months, has never flown by so fast in my life.
At times I want to yell, slow down clock! Others I can't wait to see what new milestone will come next.
But time and time again I try to embrace each day, each memory and each eye opening moment.

Elena's six month was no exception to the preceding five, full of new milestones and fun times.
Shortly after she turned five months, she rolled over, and hasn't stopped since.
Today, she is rolling back directions and is making the very beginning motions of crawling - kind of a swimming motion and she also rotates around and reaches while she is on her belly.

We introduced a lot more food and Elena's full repertoire of foods includes: rice cereal, oatmeal, avocado, peas, carrots, sweet potato, peaches, pears, prunes and apples. Today she had her first Stage 2 food - slightly thicker texture and multiple flavors - and she loved the peas and brown rice combo.

Elena is basically sitting up on her own now as well, which she started doing at 5 1/2 months. She enjoys sitting and playing with her toys and only occasionally gets distracted and falls over... but she is tough :) Sitting up does make bath time a lot more fun and she is now sitting in the tub without her infant bath. She loves playing with her rubber ducky, catching the bubbles and reaching for the water as it runs out of the faucet. She seems great in the water and doesn't seem to mind when it splashes her face. She has done well in the pool as well and I know that I need to get her into swim lessons soon!

We introduced a sippy cup last week and so far she is enjoying it, although it is still in the new phase and at times I feel like she is playing with it more than drinking, but she will get there. Admittedly, she would much rather drink from my ice water glass, than from anything else.

Every day Elena's personality is showing through. She is a total ham and loves to laugh at everything - from funny faces - to me sneezing, it makes me crack up. She has gotten much more interactive in her play as well and enjoys knocking down blocks, jumping in her jumperoo, playing with her Curious George and Dolly, banging on any number of toys/drums, to turning the pages of books, she is so much more playful now. I am loving it, and i can't wait to see what is next.

We have her pediatrician appointment on the 22nd, so we will see where she weighs in.
My guess is that she is 27 inches and 16 pounds...
