With a new house and new neighborhood, also comes new traditions, and I think we found a good one - the Hamlin Park annual egg hunt.

This year was much, much colder than last year so we headed to the "little gym" at Hamlin Park for the egg hunt that is held the weekend before Easter. We got to the park well before the event was set to start, which turned out to be a good thing - because it was a madhouse. We filed into the little gym, where flimsy gym mats standing on end were the only things holding a mass of toddlers from the colorful goodness of plastic filled eggs on the other side. As we all milled about, the parents were cracking jokes about how many kids there were and what a stampede it could be. Only pictures can really put it into words... see below... as Chris called it "The Hunger Games of Egg Hunting".
Elena had a blast - she made her way to a plastic house/slide and set up shop there... there were a ton under the slide and even more in the house, when she was done she had about 12 plastic filled eggs. She looked up at me and said "mama all done" and literally ran for the exit. This took a grand total of 5 minutes. I am not sure if she was worried the other toddlers would take her eggs or what, but it was classic.

worried about the other kids taking her eggs was probably an understatement :)
