Another year, another proud mama of the young girl that Elena is becoming. With every day she amazes me with something new. Her sense of personality continues to shine through and she is a happy, intelligent, chatty girl that brings joy and laughter to everyone that she comes into contact with.
Her verbal skills continue to amaze me and she is always chatting me up about what she did at school or the latest story she has come up with. Her imagination is amazing and it is so wonderful to see how she interprets the world around her.
She continues to learn new things every day and enjoys sharing with us what she has learned. She is so good with her hands still, drawing, putting things together, etc. Her independence streak is still there and burning bright and she has wants to do everything for herself. She's also able to entertain herself for hours with playing various make believe scenarios, pretending she is the teacher complete with circle time and parents picking up their kids, and so much more.
She is embracing the idea of being a big sister and is so excited to meet her baby sister. I know the months that lie ahead will be full of transition, but I also know that Elena is the most resilient amongst us all and will likely weather it the best. She's already quite the little mama and has been practicing all sorts of things with various bears, monkeys and dolls - whether it is changing diapers, rocking, feeding or bouning. She already has a plan in place for Baby Sister when she arrives, according to Elena, "Mama and Elena will change the pee pee diapers, and Daddy will change the poopy ones... insert giggle. We will see if her Dad is on board with the plan, but I like it. :)
Every day I am thankful for her and proud of her.
